Is there a cure for AD?

Unfortunately, there is no cure for AD as yet. However, there are several treatments available that can help to slow the progression of the disease and/or ease certain symptoms (see Question 6). The advantage of an early diagnosis means that treatment can be started as soon as possible and that the affected person and their relatives will have the opportunity to plan for the future.

AD is a key area for scientific research, and it is hoped that research into what causes AD will help to find more treatments and, eventually, a cure.
